How long does a typical project take?
A focused marketing site is often a few weeks. An app or a piece of custom software is usually measured in months, split into weekly sprints. The first call is where that range becomes a date.
How do quotes work?
There is no public price list. After a call I send a fixed quote for an agreed scope. Work does not start until you have accepted that quote.
Should I hire a freelancer or an agency?
Hire an agency when you want a team, a project manager and cover when someone is away. Hire me when you want the person who designs the product to be the person who writes it. You talk to one developer, the quote is for an agreed scope, and you own the code. If the job needs a larger team, I will say so on the call.
Who owns the code?
You do. The repository, the domain and the hosting accounts are yours. I hand them over with the launch, not at the end of a retainer.
What happens after launch?
Launch includes the deploy and a short handover. After that I can stay on for fixes and the next slice of work, agreed as it comes up rather than as a standing retainer.
What happens if you are unavailable?
The repository, the hosting account and the database sit in your name, with a handover that another developer can follow. If I am ill or away, the site keeps running, because I am not the only person who can log in. Longer absences are agreed in advance, not discovered on the day something breaks.
